Dr. Nassif: Teodora is a very sweet Romanian lady who had a rhinoplasty in 2008. I saw Teodora approximately one year after her initial surgery.
Teodora: The other doctor changed completely my appearance I didn’t recognize myself in the mirror it was a shock and I was depressed because of this. I went to a doctor in ____ and he told me that there are many doctors in the United States that are going to touch my nose because it’s destroyed and it’s a very hard surgery. I did my research and one of these doctors is Dr. Nassif.
Dr. Nassif: At this point she comes in with nasal obstruction and she’s unhappy about. She also states that her nose is scooped and her tip is too big. So the goal with her is to take care of all those things and see what I can do about it.
Teodora: I like very much his pictures, everything looks very natural. Dr. Nassif makes you look the same with that nice change that nobody notices. And also Dr. Nassif is a specialist nose, throat, and ear doctor; I need a doctor who has these qualifications. I’m a little bit nervous because of after the surgery, but otherwise I’m not that nervous like the first time because I trust very much the doctor. I hope that everything will be fine and finally I can breathe again.
Dr. Nassif: We’re going to start off by doing a rib harvest so that we have enough cartilage since there’s not enough cartilage inside of her septum. A lot of the work is going to be on her tip; it’s not properly formed and she has some nasal obstruction. We have a fine balance here; we have to make her airway bigger or we have to make her tip smaller. The main goal of the initial surgery was to improve her breathing which we were able to do that through the septoplasty, the tubinoplasty, and then with the reconstruction with what we call the external valve or the tip of the nose. Her cartilage of her nasal tip was mal-positioned so we had to release that tissue, add lato-crural strut grafts and bring it to its new position which will make the tip softer and also stronger. We also use something called the septo-extension graft and extended spreader grafts that made the middle part of the nose more symmetric in line even and lengthen we don’t want a short over rotated nose. That’s one of the things she was bothered about was that and also the scooped nose.
We’ve just finished Teodora’s surgery. It went great, we repositioned the cartilage and we made the tip strong and look very nice. So I’m very happy with this and I think she’s going to like the cosmetic and the functional result.
Teodora: It’s been almost five months from my surgery and I’m very happy with my appearance. I look normal in my opinion and my family tells me the same. Also I can breathe very well, oh it feels good.
Dr. Nassif: Her profile is a lot better, her front is a lot better, her nose is more symmetric, and her breathing is better. She’s very happy with her nose even though she still has a lot more healing to go.
Teodora: That fact that I breathe so well I mean you changed my life.
Dr. Nassif: I love to hear that. Our goal is to reconstruct her entire nose to give her a better looking nose. She looks fantastic and she’s very happy with it.
Teodora: Besides being a doctor I mean he has the normal skills like a surgeon has to have but also he has another sense, he’s an artist and he really cares about his patients. He takes his time; he’s a great surgeon and a great person. It was a great experience I’m very happy with my decision and I recommend Dr. Nassif with all my heart.
