Dr. Nassif: The procedure I’m going to perform now is the turbinate reduction and this will also help let her breathe better. With this little instrument I’m fracturing the bone to move it away from her nose so to give her a larger airway. And now we’re going to put this little needle into her nose and cauterize or shrink these little turbinates. So I’m cauterizing the inferior turbinates now; this will shrink the turbinates and open up the airway.
This little device will also help fracture the turbinates a little bit more. You can hear a little bit of the cracking of these. So this elevator, since her airway is nice and large, we’re able to put this elevator in her nose and turn it all the way around. And she has now plenty of airway. So she has a nice nice airway so she’ll be able to breathe better after her rhinoplasty. It will be improved as compared to what it was before.
