Zerona Laser Body Sculpting by Spalding Drive Plastic Surgery
Unlike invasive weight loss surgery, ZERONA® is applied externally. This revolutionary method provides results without the dangers associated with surgery, while at the same time allowing patients to remain active during treatment. The ZERONA® protocol utilizes Erchonia®’s patented and clinically proven low-level laser technology.
Voluminous adipose tissue can appear when fatty material is present, and this, in turn, can bring about enlarged subcutaneous fat regions. Because subcutaneous fat is close to the skin’s surface, laser emulsification can have a dramatic effect. The collapse of adipose arrangements have been noted after laser therapy, reducing their volume and providing effective body contouring results.
Treatment with the Zerona laser is easy, painless, and carefree. Each session takes less than an hour; the low-level laser is used for a total of 40 minutes. The laser is applied to the targeted area, which is generally a combination of the waist, hips, and thighs, for 20 minutes. The patient then turns over and the very same treatment is applied to the opposite side. The minimum suggested treatment period is two weeks, with three full sessions each week. You should consult your physician about the maximum results for your body type, weight, and target loss.

V-Beam Pulsed-Dye Laser for Wrinkles (Non-Ablative Photo Rejuvenation)
If your skin is showing evidence of age and excessive sun exposure (such as sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles), you may be an ideal candidate for this treatment.
The V-Beam laser was designed to rid patients of benign vascular lesions and can now be used to reduce the appearance of signs of skin aging on the face, neck and chest. The laser delivers an intense but gentle burst of yellow light to the skin. The light is specifically absorbed by the blood vessels in the dermis. These blood vessels are coagulated, and the underlying collagen is stimulated. Optimal results are seen after numerous treatments. As collagen stimulation is not immediate, best results are seen some months after the last treatment.
We have also demonstrated on national television the affects of the V-Beam laser for the treatment of redness and broken blood vessels due to Rosacea.
Some patients may feel a slight discomfort associated with the V-Beam laser. This feeling has been described by patients as the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. This discomfort is minimized by the cooling device and for some patient’s, a topical anesthetic may be used prior to treatment.
Typically 3-4 treatments are required for best results. To optimize results we often places patients on a home skin care preparation program one month prior to starting treatments. It is recommended to avoid sun exposure before and throughout the course of treatment. A sun block (SPF30 or above) should be used. You can expect to return to your usual activities immediately after treatment. Typically, treatments are a lunchtime procedure.
The V-Beam laser can treat:
- Rosacea
- Facial Veins
- Leg Veins
- Scars
- Psoriasis
- Wrinkles
- Red birthmarks such as hemangiomas and port wine stains
- Angiomas
- Poikiloderma of Civatte (uneven coloring of the neck)

Laser Resurfacing
Los Angeles skin resurfacing procedures cannot produce perfect skin; rather, the goal is to improve the appearance of the skin as much as possible. Skin type and color, ethnic background, and age are important factors that should be discussed prior to surgery. If you have dark skin or problems such as allergies, previous burns, a history of poor scars, or radiation exposure, you may need special evaluation to determine if you are a candidate for these procedures. If you have had episodes of cold sores and blisters around the mouth, inform Us of this condition.
Whether you seek laser skin resurfacing, or a dermabrasion for functional or cosmetic reasons, you choice of a qualified dermatologic surgeon, such us is of paramount importance. Bear in mind that neither laser resurfacing nor dermabrasion can correct sagging skin or halt the aging process. Furthermore, you must make a commitment to use sunblock.
The skin is composed of the epidermis and the dermis. Within the dermis are two layers, both of which are constructed of collagen, long fibers that loosen and stretch with age and sun damage. If the deepest layer, the reticular layer, is damaged, scars result, while the upper layer of the dermis, the papillary layer, heals from the injuries without scarring. For skin rejuvenation, we apply one of several chemicals to the skin. Glycolic acid is the mildest. TCA, trichloraoacetic acid, can be used in varying strengths for longer-lasting smoothness.
Dermabrasion is a surgical technique whereby some deeper scars and wrinkles can be smoothed. We use a local anesthetic and/or a freezing agent to render the skin numb. Then, using a high-speed rotating brush, he then removes the top layer of skin to the appropriate level for the best results. The size and depth of scars and the degree of wrinkling determine the length of the surgery.
Laser skin resurfacing isLaser Treatments used to smooth facial skin wrinkling caused by excess sun exposure, “crow’s feet,” and acne scarring. The high energy, amplified light waves of carbon dioxide (CO2) laser vaporize the top layer of skin instantly, with no bleeding and minimal trauma to the surrounding skin. Immediately following laser resurfacing, chemical peel or dermabrasion, We will apply a dressing to your skin. Ointments to keep the skin supple will be applied for seven to ten days following surgery. The redness of skin that persists after the initial healing phase fades with time. We often recommends a soft diet, avoidance of extremes in temperature and any activity that would cause stress to healing skin.
One to two weeks after surgery, new skin will emerge that is pinkish, finer and free of many wrinkles. But it may take weeks for all the redness to vanish. Follow-up care involves using sun block in order to protect the skin while new pigment is created. Patients will notice that the skin remains lighter for a long time after surgery, but that condition will usually subside when the skin’s pigment level has been restored.
Good candidates for skin resurfacing are:
- People with wrinkled or sun damaged skin on the face
- Brown spots or blotchy skin coloring
- Fine wrinkles on their upper eyelid
- Acne or other facial scars
- Certain skin growths
- Vertical wrinkles around your mouth
- Crows feet
- Superficial facial scars
Treatments cover a whole area or focus on a specific region of the skin and are often used in conjunction with other procedures like a facelift or eyelid surgery. Though new, laser resurfacing has been shown to produce less bleeding, bruising or post-procedure discomfort than other resurfacing methods.
The procedure is relatively quick, and ranges in length anywhere from a few minutes to 1 ½ hours depending on the area being covered. Patients are given a local anesthetic and put under sedation. They are awake, but relaxed. However, for extensive treatment the physician may prefer to use a general anesthesia, which will allow patients to sleep through the procedure
